My goldsmithing journey – from the beginning to goldsmith academy mengeš
My journey into the world of goldsmithing began in 1991, when I enrolled in a secondary school for jewelry design and began my apprenticeship with renowned jewelry designer Irena Ambrožič Zupan. I later continued my training under master goldsmith Anton Marolt, where I completed my internship and eventually joined his workshop as a full-time craftsman. This period was crucial in shaping my skills and deepening my passion for the craft.
In 2001, I began collaborating as an external partner with Mohorič Jewelry, which opened the door to working with seven other goldsmith workshops across Slovenia. In 2005, I found the perfect space in Mengeš and opened my own studio – Goldsmith Studio Mengeš. From the very beginning, I focused exclusively on creating one-of-a-kind jewelry featuring precious and ornamental stones.
In 2012, we began a successful collaboration with a major jewelry company in the Netherlands, which continues to this day.
A major milestone came in 2018, when I co-founded a jewelry school in Mengeš and began teaching the art of jewelry making – passing on my knowledge to the next generation of goldsmiths.
In 2021, I attended advanced stone setting training at the prestigious Alexander Setting School, followed by further specialization at the Gerardi Stone Setting School.
In 2023, I took the next step and founded Goldsmith Academy Mengeš. This marked a new chapter in my teaching journey, expanding the curriculum to include advanced stone setting techniques. The academy has become a place where tradition meets innovation – a space for anyone who wants to deepen their knowledge of goldsmithing and find their creative voice.
Goldsmithing is more than a craft – it’s an art, a passion, and a form of expression. My journey proves that with love for the work, continuous learning, and a desire to create, we can achieve extraordinary things.
